Optical Illusion

Postby Vedette » Tue Oct 14, 2014 10:59 am

After spending my Thanksgiving Day off out back cleaning up and measuring Kermit before it comes indoors, I confirmed what I already knew but others would not believe.
Kermit will be no larger than Miss Piggy! :)
The difference in shape creates the Optical Illusion of is being soooo much larger. But in reality it will be almost the same size.
Most of the overall measurements where within 1/2" to 1" from being identical. It is just be configured differently, and will allow us to have a little more room thru
relocation of things.
ie) The bed will be 1/2" wider. But there is no need to make it longer, as MP's is already 80" (But our heads will be at the opposite end).
We may gain 1" more headroom (MP has ample) unless I give that space to the "under bed" storage compartments.
Original plan was to cut the entire front end off of the donor car and shorten it, as I did with MP. But, after measuring. it may be left on and will only increase the overall length (hitch to rear bumper) by 6", making it 14 '.
This extra 6" will end up in the cabin rather than the Galley, but the Galley will end up with more storage room because are feet will not need to go under the counter.
All in all, Don't expect "Kermit" to be a monster. It will be very similar to most traditional 5"wides.
Keep you posted! :wine:

It's hard to tell by looking at the picture's, but Kermit looks like a 42 humpback Chevy, judging by the lower front fender trim.

I like it! I see some real cool lines coming out with your build. I'll be watching...........Larry

No Larry it is a 1947 Chev. Fleetline Aero Sedan.....way more stylish than a humpback. And chopped an 1 1/2' right from the factory.
