Sandi and I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity the past couple of years to have visited most of the places mentioned in this article (including Crater Lake this past summer") and truly find any kind of Graffiti "Totally Offensive"! :x
These so called artists, are nothing but disrespectful criminals in our opinion!
Glad we were not subjected to any of these pictures in our travels as it would have wrecked a beautiful memory for us.

I can't stand graffiti anywhere in any shape or Form.
Granted some of it is done by pretty talented people but it's still vandalism that's why they don't do it on the side of thier own property.

The trouble is....finding "who done it"!
...and then proving it.

From what I have read, they know who done it. It was all over her blog and social media accounts. People made copies and sent them in as evidence against her. Those accounts have been closed down or set to private now. Nothing like taking pictures of your crimes for everyone to see! The problem is... How much $$$ does the national parks service want to spend to go get her and prosecute for these crimes. She did the same thing in several parks.

The NPS should spend whatever it takes to prosecute. They need to make an example of her to discourage others. People are prosecuted every day for much lesser crimes.

What I couldn't tell from the article is if this was paint or just chalk.

Although both are damaging and quite wrong to do without a permit, I'm not so alarmed if it's chalk. At least that could be quickly cleaned up so other's don't have it spoil their visit to the park.

I heard that she used acrylic. No washing away in the rain. She needs to spend some money on canvas for her "art" and leave our national parks the way God made them.

The definition of a weed is a plant that is growing in an undesireable place. This "art" is truly a visual weed. In appropriate places it would be beautiful, but where she chose to put them they are a crime, even if they were of a material that had a limited existence (chalk) ... prosecute and restore the defaced surfaces if possible at her expense. It's a shame that some of todays best artistic talent choose to express themselves by creating graffiti. No matter where you visit, "take only photographs and leave only footprints."

What a stupid, thoughtless thing for her to do! I'm glad she published her own crime, though. When they prosecute her, they should make her manually remove each piece using a very small toothbrush; but, they won't...might make them liable to the ninny. Still, a big $$$$ fine and lots of community service might be in her future.
