Campfire Poker / Iron - CUSTOM BABY!!!

You know when you can't find just the right tool so you have to make one yourself? After our first trip in the Escape Pod I realized I needed a fire iron, but searching and searching yielded bupkis. Browsing the online auction site the answer came to me like the proverbial thunderbolt - BEER TAP HANDLE!!!

A couple of bucks and a week later, I had my parts and pieces: Tap handle, all thread, and some scrap to make a drag hook (I used an extra allen/hex wrench Ikea puts in all their furniture kits):


I welded the hex wrench to a flat spot on the all thread and screwed it into the handle:





The red matches the trailer trim even - PERFECT!

Great use of things you had........except the beer tap.
Camped with some new teardrop friends this year that are avid snowmobilers! They had a "Long Handled" campfire stick that was amazing and very fuctional. Maybe they will chime in with a picture of theirs?????
