Teardrop Snowbirds

Mike, I'll be taking my 5x10 Silver Shadow to Arizona this winter for about 3 1/2 months. I'll use my Paha Que 5x7 screen room as my "living room" and night time potty, and my Trekker Privy Tent as my ....privy and shower. It'll work....because I don't want to put up with another winter like last year's record breaking cold and snow.

Looks like our set up Verna!
We have the same change tent........ only difference I can see, is that I have made a table mount that allows us to close our galley while the table is up.
Couple three months would be no problem for us? That's camping!
If I wanted to eat inside and have an onboard bathroom I would have kept my motorhome.
Enjoy your winter! Wish we could join you!
But, If you are looking to do this every winter?? we will be ready for next year!!!

Marcia and I have been camping since the end of August and are loving it!!! This week we are working our way back south along the Mississippi River Great River Road after being caught in the polar vortex up north! BRRRR! If you are going to be a snowbird in a tear, I think that it is good to be flexible and follow the nice weather to the extent you can!

We were planning on staying south and making a west coast tour this spring....but....we just found out our daughter in Juneau is pg with our first grandchild!!!! I have no idea what the plan is now but Marcia may want to settle down or get back to Juneau a lot quicker now!!!! We will see!

Sunbirds!! Amen, my wife coined the term here 2 years ago when we were having a very hot summer in South Mississippi -. Thinking of an extended trip up north. We may take advantage of the concept this coming summer - Michigan maybe?

We laugh when we hear people say they are going "North" without crossing the 49th.
As we say we are headed "South" when we intend to cross into your north.
But Michigan to avoid the heat??? We were there two summers ago and just about melted due to the "humidity"
You need to come to the NW where you cane enjoy summer temperatures that are dry!

Well look for us in the summer of 2016. I retire in April of that year and will take off in June for the northwest. We have a recumbent gathering that we want to get to in Kellogg Idaho and another gathering in August, over near Astoria. So in the meantime we want to travel about in the area. Any yes heading north will include crossing the 49th. I really don't see a problem with using the TD for an extended trip as long as the weather is good. I can deal with a few rainy days in the trailer and we can always just pack up and go elsewhere.
We look for smaller campsites that tend to cater to tent campers. We have a portable shower/privy and an easy-up. Along with that we have our hiking boots and our bicycles for entertainment. Some of our best sites have been at spots in the forest that are not even campgrounds. So long as we can have a campfire and not worry about the dogs, then we are happy.

Not hard to chase great weather that time of year. And with that much time between committed events you have a huge number of options and a lot of great country in between.
You are going to love the Great North West and B.C. in July!
Remember, it will be out 3rd annual "Farm Gathering" in the middle of July.

Please tell us more about the Gatherings you mentioned in Kellogg and Astoria?
Are they Teardrop Gatherings? And who sponsors or hosts them?
What are the exact dates.?
Contact person ? Etc. Etc.
Ad the new TJ Director for the PNW, I am trying to promote participation in as many events as I can......would love to share this information with other TnTTT members, Tear Jerkers, and members of T.O.W. etc.

Sorry, I probably mis-represented these events. The event in Kellogg ID is a gathering of recumbent trike riders, though two-wheelers are welcome. The event in Astoria is a recumbent bike event. My first love is still bicycling but it ties in well with tear drop trailers. This is especially true since I no longer bicycle tour due to the need of a CPAP at night. So now we travel and camp and ride the area then move on.
So to answer you question; you would certainly be welcome but a recumbent bike/trike would help you fit in.
