I should add, small town. Had just moved and had all my stuff in a carport and didn't want anyone around. Vetted them (amazing/scary what you can find from a phone number). They picked it up with their three excited boys. However, were I to sell anything else I still would not have them to my home. Just lucky we have a community lot for these things, that you need proof of title to get a permit from the city to park/sell at.

A scamp just sold here in Houston for $2200. I missed it. Decent trailer and well worth $2200. They are out there if you are ready when it pops up.

All the trailers a bunch of used boat stuff I've bought have been on CL. I also have a 2000# boat axle for my next build (free!) and I've gotten rid of a bunch of stuff on CL as well. There are definitely scammers, but my experience has been 100% positive. If someone suggested we meet in a parking lot somewhere, I would decline right then and there. Then again, I live in a small community where everyone knows everyone with only a couple degrees of separation.

Then again, I'm skeptical enough that my radar is always on: when I read about these scams I wonder "how can anyone possibly fall for that?", yet people do all the time....or maybe not and that's why they're always out there. Just like telemarketing: it's a numbers game...and it only takes one victim for it to pay off.
