This is my retirement, one 401k paid for the T@G and all the support stuff. I am tricking everything out and waiting for the UPS, FEDEX and postman to deliver the goods.
The Tacoma will be April 1st from another 401k, need to wait for the quarter to end to max it out.
So everything will be paid for, no bills, no worries.

We tent camped all over northern Calif and Oregon when we lived in the Bay area but did not 'see' everything, all we did was stop, set up, relax and go home. Now we will be exploring as we head out on this new adventure.

Mary, on the typical light duty trailer there is a lever latch on top. When toggled this pulls up on a shaft that pulls a formed tab shaped stamping up to the under side of the ball, locking the ball into the coupler socket. On the end of the shaft, under the tab, there should be a self locking nut, or crimp nut. With the ball and coupler socket lubed, and the coupler connected and latched, this nut should be tightened until there is no play between the coupler and ball. The coupler should still be free to rotate on the ball, but it should not be able to shuck around or clunk back and forth, or up and down. When the catch is lifted the coupler should still be free to lift off of the ball.

Thanks KC, I'm glad I checked mine it was a little loose, my brother had the tools to tighten the nut. I am so glad that this was brought to my attention.

Thank you for posting that . Ive always wondered about the adjustment of the coupler . I'll tighten mine up next time .
Should there be any grease or lubricant on the ball itself ?

Ok one more question............Where do you get the S hook keeper you have shown on the chain? I realize that without it that S hook could come loose.

Mary, I recently tried to find some. Couldn't find them locally but did find a pair on Amazon. http://smile.amazon.com/C-E-Smith-16691 ... B00144EPFC Instead of getting those, however, I just decided to add a pair of large, stainless steel quick links.

That sounds like the thing to do. My chains seem lomg enough to add one and still use the S hook. sorta double up the security.
