Plans I found on Ebay

Postby brandon05w » Sun Apr 05, 2015 7:33 pm

Do these plans look legit? http://m.ebay.com/itm/271660800910?nav=WATCHING_ACTIVE

I have finally saved enough to start a build and came across this today. I would like to build what you guys call a "standy" or something roomy.

I don't buy that a guy that puts plans on eBay and includes a photo of a commercially built (Lil' Guy TAB trailer) has ever built a trailer. He brags about HIS trailer. Why didn't he put a photo of IT up that he built off HIS plans? And I don't think anyone has built a standy for $900. (Perhaps I'm wrong on this point.)

I really like this statement he makes on another auction listing: "Once your trailer is finished contact the Department of Safety in your State they will mail you a copy of Trailer Requirements. Call for an inspection, the inspector will come to your house and inspect your trailer for a $25.00 fee and give you a VIN number so you can get a Trailer Title and License Plates."

Yeah, house calls. Maybe the inspector will bring a sack of doughnuts too.

Go with Grant's Campster 12: http://www.angib.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/t ... tear56.htm It's free. (Maybe I should put it up on eBay?) Or maybe the Scotty 12ft: http://www.angib.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/t ... tear54.htm

Let's say this. He's telling you up front is a photo copy 8.5x11 described vaguely in very broken English. You'll probably get what you order.....plans on a sheet of paper.

Good luck with that.

I'd save my $25 for a half tank of gas to drive to a gathering near you, look at the ones people have built often with an idea and very little planning, at some commercial units to see how they do it. Then go home with an 8.5x11 and start doodling, I'll wager what you come up with is as good as what he is selling.

I know that every state is different, but in Iowa the inspector does come to your house. I didn't have to pay an additional fee. No donuts either. ;)

There are lots of great free plans right here in the Design Resources section of this site.

Heck, for a house call, I guess I'd buy the inspector a donut.

I like the guy's quotes from his builders:
"Denise Steele. We put a full size house sky light on the ceiling, stars and moon are great every night. We love our camper."

And from another one of his auctions:
"Leonard Brittan. I put a House size skylight on the roof of our Teardrop Camper so we can look at the moon and stars at night. We love our Teardrop Camper."

:applause: It's a small world.
