Went to the site and looked around. The door seam is actually where the side splits and swings wide open.It opens up the entire side and looks bigger. But why would you want to set I a tear on a nice day? Still didn't read much to explain the price. Coyote

This is a "designer" teardrop that was designed by an "artist"...and that is why it commands such a high price. It is most likely targeted toward the very rich who would see it as a status symbol. According to the website, the initial offering price for this base model is $63,900. Coming soon they will have models with other features such as cooking facilities...which will most likely push the price well into six figures. I think the magazine would have done their readers a better service by featuring a more versatile teardrop made by a well known and viable company.

I agree.
I don't feel that $63,900 trailer represents the readership like the one (see photo) they covered in 2012.

It would have been a good fit for the Neiman Marcus Luxury Holiday Catalog they put out each Christmas.

I suspect the high price is (as mustangcats said) because it is an art piece, like the haute couture seen on the runways of Paris, and because it was an award winner in the "Outdoor" category of the Dwell on Design L.A. 2014 design show. . . http://dishwashers.reviewed.com/news/the-coolest-products-at-americas-hottest-design-show

One other note, the website says the images there are of their prototype, which most likely means the design is subject to change, possibly/hopefully, to include rubber seals on the doors and some type of way to ventilate other than to open the doors. Even in California it can get cold enough to create interior condensation issues.

Ive just seen this today and think its a lovely design, albeit no way Id pay that!

I finished and sold my last teardrop nearly 2 years ago now and Im on with a VW bus at present BUT

I love this design!!!!



Maybe when the bus is finished id make a scaled down design.

Reading the website I cant understand how it is so heavy for what it is ?? 420kg., maybe the all metal frame?, I mean you could just use ply ribs for the roof structure and its got a canvas roof anyway!?

Personally I could make a 5x10 version of what with wood frame, metal base for way under 250kg.

My last 8x4 teardrop was aluminium clad and had all the bells/whistles and was only 320kg.
