Awnings, Vinyl or rope insert?

Postby ukewarrior » Fri Aug 07, 2015 10:51 am

When you sew an awning, there seem to be two choices for attaching the awning edge into the 'typical' awning rail.

I've seen the vinyl insert that you sew the edge of your awning to and I've seen the use of a rope within the fabric.

Any comments on these or other methods, pluses and minuses?

Both work but I prefer the vinyl. When you first use it the vinyl can be very sticky and annoying to deal with. After a few uses is does slide much easier.
I am assuming you are using the vintage trailer "j-rail" the vinyl/rope slides into.
