Canadian Winter

Postby Vedette » Fri Dec 11, 2015 1:29 am

Well, B.C. Canada!
Here we sit. Dec. 10th at the Farm!t
This post is aimed at those that have been here, and those that have wondered about adventuring into the "Great White North" ??
Dec. 10th and it is not so white here????
Here is how it goes here at the Farm.
Noonish today, neighbours come through the hedge and as say " we are going to have a fire and sausages and wine later this afternoon before dark"! 8 to 10 ish C. ( someone can convert that to F degrees ??) But warm for December here!
Went through the hedge about 4:30 ish to a big campfire and a wine cellar tour of the 2015 crop (which we helped to pick), followed by homemade Hungarian sausage, and 1 lb pieces of bacon cooked over the open camp fire pit (then chunked  ), while the mulled wine was heating off to the side on an open propane burner and tripod. The city was glowing below us with Xmas lights... and the afternoon rain had subsided, creating a wonderful glow over the Valley!
Good friends, Good wine, good food!
There was fresh baked bread, tomatoes, peppers, and onions ( all grown on the property) and delicious carrot cake. Plus more wine.... 2010, 2014, ....Red..White.....Barrel tastings, etc. :wine: It is a wonder I can still type????
Makes me think Camping season is not really over???
wish our Teardrop camping friends were here to share this with us on special days like this! :)
Good Roads
Brian & Sandi
PS
Not much progress was made on "Kermit today......but who cares!!!!! :wine: :wine: :wine: :R :R

Damn, now I'm missing the farm...

My how quickly life can change this time of year.
Yesterday we woke up to bitter cold but dry ground.
Move a 40 Nash Coupe down from the barn to the shop....it was starting to snow lightly??
Well good thing we did it yesterday............as we are now assured of a "White Christmas" :applause:
Woke up to 6" of fresh snow this morning!
Will have to put the plow on my 8N Tractor "Dixie" and put her to work clearing the driveway.
Makes us wish we were TD Camping some place warm in Arizona with other TD friends.
Merry Christmas

Hi Tony
No Pigeons to report :( But last count14 Doves, 30 + quail, and of coarse those pesky Flickers (Woodpeckers).
We can't have any animals that require attention, as we are off in Miss Piggy too much.
Merry Christmas

PS
There is a storm headed your way, could be white by morning.

Pigeons? Huh? I thought this was what you probably rounded up on your ranch in the frozen arctic:

What, you have snow up there north of the border? What's that, it 's been so long, I can't remember. I just got a new senior-sized surfboard for Christmas and am heading for the beach to give it a try. It's a calm, sunny day down here, beautiful white clouds in the sky and my new swimming suit is just about to get a trial run. After hitting the waves, I think it'll be lunch time at the end of the pier, where we watch the whales spouting. Then it's off to a tramway in Palm Springs that will take us to the top of a 10,000 foot peak, where donuts and coffee await us. Before sun down, I think I'll get in an hour of water skiing and a snack on the seashore before we head down Hollywood Blvd to view the locals. If time permits, well head off to Disneyland, for a few hours of relaxation and wild rides. Brian, I wish you had Miss Piggy parked in my driveway again, so we could all enjoy this beautiful day, wine and all, from the finest vinyards in So Calif.

Hope to see you guys at the IRG, don't forget to send in your registration after the first, as campsites will probably be going fast.
8) :D  Roly ~~ the li'l ol woody guy from So Calif, slowly drifting away from TDing, but will keep it up as long as I can.

Thanks Roly
Merry Christmas!
We miss you too!
It is a balmy -7 here.
Last night after way to much Turkey and everything else. Sandi and I escaped for a late night walk around our back forty.
It was clear and the Full Moon was making the fluffy snow sparkle, like there were a billion stars under our feet. It was easy to follow the racoon tracks from the pond, and see where the two deer had jumped over our back fence for a stroll through our field. The crisp air was still and was just cool enough to wake us up from the Turkey Coma we were falling into, and to make us appreciate the Baileys that was awaiting us in front of the fire.
The grand kids were snuggled down for the night and it was finally quiet after the noise that was produced by the 16 family members we had sit down to Christmas Dinner. :FNP
I am awaiting the registration notice for the IRG and am so glad to hear you are coming.
We will have to have a chat soon.
Happy New Year. :wine:
