vents with quiet fans

Postby gene so » Tue Feb 16, 2016 10:24 pm

Hello,
I am seeking a vent which will be a proper size for my custom camping trailer. I have been warned about fans on vents that can drive you nuts at night, but are necessary! So for my trailer, 60" high, 66" wide by 108', what would a proper size be for venting this camper and which manufacturer has the quietest, very efficient, fan?

Thank you in advance,

We used a Maxxair fan. It has 10 different speed settings, so it's very quiet at the 10%-30% settings. Uses very little current at low speeds. Good fan & very quiet.

I chose this one because of the Fantastic fan's feedback being so noisy, & so many people were trying to figure out how to slow them down. Why bother when there's a better fan already made that's quieter?

I have both the fantastic fan in my tear and a max air in my eggcamper. The max air is quieter.
I find if you do a lot of camping after the first couple of nights you don't here the fan any more, well at least I don't. It also helps drown out any noise from other campers.
Hope this helps!

I've been wondering if a chimney could be placed over the vent to get a draft going?

Thanks for all your in depth answers and I have ordered a maxxair system for my trailer. I still think of the electrical wiring for this trailer as a high mountain, but am attacking it in three phases: trailer wiring: inlcuding running lights, turn signals, and special clear lights that come on when the truck is in reverse, so I can actually see something when backing up. Then the 12v system, then the 120 (shore powered lights and fixtures such as microwave and air conditioner.

Once again Thank you all so very much. This site is absolutely indipensible to me in my building this camping trailer!
