Gots me a question.

A standard Queen Sized matters is 60 X 80. Add an inch or two fro getting sheets and such tucked in and we are up to 62" at a minimum.

That will not work out with a five by ten trailer width wise. If I have a trailer made that will accept the Queen plus the wall thickness, currently thinking 1/2 " outer 5/8ths insulation/battens and 1/4 inner wall. With the outer wall outside of the trailer, I will need two + - inches wall thickness and another two for wiggle room thus 64 inch interior dimension for total trailer width of [ ta da ] 65 inches.

CanI get an axle ready made for that width, or will a special order be required ?. Going to use 5 lug tires so only 1 spare will be required for car and railer.

You don't want the tire's under the trailer deck? But outside of side walls of the trailer?

Alright, looks like the 68 " will do just fine.

Our 5 x 10 is 58" (57.5"?) inside and the seven-inch thick 60" foam mattress fits fine. It's a task but not a big one to get a fitted sheet on it.

If somebody swiped our trailer tonight, I'd be building another one just like it by Friday. Adding a couple more inches in width is going to cause problems with aluminum sizing etc. Not impossible, but a problem.

5' material makes soooo much sense!
Mattress can be cut to any width.
Just adding and adding makes no sense?

I did what Tony suggested & had one cut to size. Ours is a "full" which is 54" X 75" X 5" then put a 3" Costco memory foam topper on it for better comfort. It ended up being better than our bed at home. There's an inch or two difference in width (the mattress is slightly smaller than the cabin), but it's much easier to put the comforter in place that way & make the bed.

My frame ended up being 60 1/2" wide (the 5' one I found to use which was "too good to pass up") & I would say that the 1/2" oversize was a major PITA to deal with at times. Not impossible, but certainly more trouble than the "extra" 1/2" was worth in terms of space & convenience. Stick with 5' for your width & you'll be fine.

I built a 4x8 and then had a difficult time with a mattress. We ended up with a cheap ($100) futon mattress. This was full size and did not fit but by tieing the mattress into a lengthwise fold it goes through the hatch opening. The mattress sides squish out and are forced into the walls so it does fit even though the trailer is six inches too narrow. We leave the ties under the mattress to make it easy to fold up and take it out. Eventually we will buy a new foam mattress for our home and our exsisting foam mattress will be cut to size. The trailer does not have permanent cabinets in the back.

As we built basements in both of our trailers (under floor storage) that we keep out cloths bins in (which we access numerous time per day).
Our mattresses are made in 3 pieces, and are only 1 1/2 " narrower than a full queen size. They are easy to get in the teardrop and lift for under floor access.
The form fitted mattress cover acts as a hinge and keeps everything together.
I am so glad Sandi is a such a great seamstress. She makes it all look so easy and professional.
