Shower pan drawer; How does drain work?

Postby kudzu » Sun Apr 17, 2016 9:00 am

This caravan has the shower pan in a drawer that pulls out from under a closet. It's a cool idea, but I'm wondering how they get it to drain reliably. Flexible pipe or tubing would risk it getting bent or crushed at some point, right? Telescoping pipes? My mind isn't creative enough to fathom it.

I think that is a creative idea. I also believe it is probably a flexible drain. I can see how they can be durable for this application. But I will admit that I have no personal experience to base this opinion on.

I would think that the drain under the drawer is a solid pipe that extends about a couple of inches past the inside wall of the drawer to align with a drain hole in the floor went the drawer is in the open position.
The hole in the floor could be a simple sliding gate that opens and closes as the drawer opens and closes. This opening would either be attached to a drainable holding tank ore a hose that can be attached from the outside to divert water away from the trailer????
