I have been wondering what the best way is to clean these too.

Good old glass cleaner and a soft rag?

Yes, dirt of any kind can reduce the performance of a PV panel. It is not something I lose sleep over. The occasional rain washes the panels at the cabin. I never bother getting the hose out, etc. But you can wash them, after all they are meant to be mounted outside in the weather.

Well, you lose a bit of power by covering up a spot or two of the array. As far as cleaning... Having had two macaws, a yellow nape, a mitered concur, and a cockatoo, plus volunteered at a wild life center taking care of eagles, hawks, and humming birds all I can say is - Simple Green. There is nothing in the bird world that can not be removed with it. I use it on my TD, windows, solar panels.

Assuming your serious about this, and I'm not sure you are, just do what they do on these sun farms. Let the annual rains deal with it.
