Harbor freight trailer info ?

Postby rustytoolss » Tue Jun 21, 2016 9:01 pm

I had saved this somewhere but can't find it. Questions about Harbor Freight 4x8 trailers. What's the difference's between The 1190lbs heavy duty trailer & the 1720lbs super duty trailer ? When the trailer is sitting level/ What's the distance from the ground to the bed mount ?
Which trailer is most used for a max weight of 1000lbs (or is it just smarter to go with the super duty trailer ?)

Buy the heavier duty one. The smaller one comes with 4 bolt rims, and smaller tires. I would never want to build up close to a trailers max. limit. Otherwise look into the Northern Tool trailer. It's 5' wide and comes with 12" rims. Someone just posted recently a coupon on that trailer.

HF has been selling more 4x8 models than you can shake a 20%-off coupon at! :?
For the most part I agree with buying the most expensive one, but do some homework before you buy: Call your local store and find out the EXACT SKU of the trailers they stock, then DOWNLOAD the manuals for the trailers they stock and read them with a lot of care:

What size wheels? Some have 8 inch wheels, the others have 12 inch, but some of their trailers with 12 inch wheels have only four holes. I would only settle for the 12 inch with 5 holes.

The last time I looked they sold 2 different high end 4x8 (SuperDuty) models (both for the same price), both of which fold (the older 1720# trailers did not fold). Seethis post,

One of the key differences was one had a round axle and the other had a C-channel axle. I prefer the round axle.

Finally, remember what you read on this site may not be for the same trailer you buy today. See my “Tail of Two Trailers” for a what I mean.

They don't take The twenty percent coupon on trailers anymore, YMMV
