Teardrop with canvas backside

Postby Pgrnfarm » Thu Jul 07, 2016 7:43 pm

I just seen a photo of a teardrop that instead of having a kitchen in the back, it opens up with canvas and a door to make a larger "room" inside....would be great for 6'2" hubby instead of conventional teardrop. Is anyone aware of a set of plans, such as from an old Popular Mechanics magazine that we could use as a guideline? Tow vehicle will be my Father's 1937 F1 Ford pickup.

Do you know of anyone who has ever built one? I am so intrigued by it!

It's in the vintage plans...

And the Winter Warrior is a hard sided version of that...

And here is Sharon's list of teardrops with lifting roofs!

The quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten, so build your teardrop with the best materials...

I don't know who the owner was or if they are a member of this forum but this was (I think) home built. If not from scratch it was fully restored. I chatted with them briefly at the Tearjerkers' CRA2015 gathering in Spencer, Indiana last summer. Perhaps someone here can help you get in touch with them?

Saw one in person in Michigan last month. There was a vintage camper show where we happened to be camping.
