Campgrounds in Boise Idaho

Postby SPLAT » Sun Sep 11, 2016 5:16 pm

I have just unsuccessfully spent all day trying to find a place to camp in our Tear, while we visit our kids In Boise, just East of Meridian.
Would like to save some money but from the reviews I have read, most campgrounds nearby have a large population of permanent tenants that are shady characters, or the facilities are poorly kept...

I considered looking for a campground run by the Forestry dept. however they seem to be first come first served, no showers and are quite a distance for the area we are visiting, ... Not to mention there has been forest fires in the area, so we have no idea of the current condition of those campgrounds.

I am open for suggestions if anyone knows of a good place

There could be some FS up toward Atlanta, Idaho City. Will probably rather far. Check Idaho Power. I have stayed in one of theirs and it was nice. No shower though in that one.

Idaho Power Parks

Kind of far from Boise. :(

I stayed at Scout Camp at the foot of CJ Strike Dam last Feb. Nice park and heated restrooms but no showers.

I don't know... one of my retirement goals was to never-ever got to Boise again (and I've failed miserably with that).

Looking at my Allstays Camp & RV app, there's a state campground or two out at Lake Owyee State park. http://oregonstateparks.org/index.cfm?d ... &parkId=10

But it's fifty miles. No fires, and probably no showers but I'd bet there's no yahoos that are living there.

We were just in Boise last week... stayed at owyhee state campground, and it's beautiful there... but really far from Boise (bout an hour and a half drive)

you can try the riverside rV park.. can't really recommend the tent sites, but to park a teardrop it might work... it is close to busy street, but I think they have showers.. and you will be right in boise

You can also check out swan falls (south of Boise)... no power/showers, and watch out for the flies, but it's really quiet and pretty (right along the river). It's only about 45 minutes from Boise, and there are free sites too
