Cork surfaces

Postby Kaz » Sun Apr 28, 2019 5:00 pm

So I've put cork shelf liner on the top shelf in the galley and also in the cabinets. It protect s the surfaces from traveling bumps and bangs. I think it looks cool too. Question is what do I seal it with to protect it from water stains?

Cork is naturally a water resistant material but to protect it many cork floor installers use a Urethane finish

In the sense that the cork itself is not harmed by the water, but without an involved sealing process it certainly does entrap moisture and I would not line walls with it or anything.

But shelving sure, do some googling for Lobo, the "bonding" first coat, and then urethane, refresh every few years
