Door bumpers?

Postby tony.latham » Mon Sep 02, 2019 2:08 pm

Plan A on my current build is to use these rubber tailgate stops:

I've got the same ones on our "old" 'drop but attached them to the Vintage Tech doors instead of the cabin. They work.

Any better ideas out there???

Do you want a bumper or a holder? If it's a holder, a buddy has these on his car hauler and they're great. I'm gonna put them on my trailer:

I've used these nickel plated magnetic door stops (mine are chromed) on all my builds and love them.
I even put them on a friends teardrop and they love them too.
You can't slam the door  into them too many times as the spring for the swivel cup on the door side will get stuck and it takes some massaging to make it pop back.
When open their great in windy conditions.

Thanks a bunch, Danny. I think I can handle $6.50 a pop.

Danny, i was thinking of these as well. Just a quick question. My worry was that I would get caught on the pin. Am I overthinking this? Price sure is reasonable.

Thank You
Peter

Peter, they are on the opposite end of where you get into the teardrop, so shouldn't get in your way, we've never had an issue.
They only protrude 3".
The old style rubber socket and pin type wear out fast and on my first TD every time I'd work on it, on the underside, the blasted hook would smack my in the forehead when sliding out. :?

I wanted something to just keep the door from hitting the side, I dont leave the doors open, y'all must live somewhere far from here, where you want to leave your doors open.

I heard one once. I think.

This is just to keep the door handle from damaging the wall. :frightened:

I saw a really cool diy door holder that could double as a bumper. It was a golf ball screwed to the door that caught in a sawn piece of pvc pipe screwed to the body.

The inner diameter of the pvc fit the golf ball. The pvc was split not quite in half so the edges held the ball when it forced its way in.
