Mounting gas or water jugs ?

My TD was built on a harbor freight frame and the bracket (behind the wheels) never got cut off.
I was thinking about using it somehow to carry gas or water jugs.

While it would help me shift some heavy weight (100 lbs) . Im not sure how it would look.

Anybody ever do this ?

I’d be worried about shifting weight behind the axle and lightening the tongue too much. A light tongue makes for a squirrely tow.

I'll keep that in mind. The tongue is a bit heavy right now. Can barely lift it to move around.

My HF tongue jack didn't come with a caster wheel .
I finally ordered one for it yesterday.

I don't see why you can't use the brackets, then cantilever the water jugs forward over the wheels. That gets the tongue weight lower without adding any behind the axle.

Currently im thinking about the same thing. Mounting it as close to possible to the axle . Also would keep down the mud spray on the jugs.
Probably a small mud flap bolted to the fender will help.
Usually we get water at our last gas stop when we can.

Looking at gas can mounts today but my water jugs are a bit longer so that's out.
Oh well I'll keep looking around.

Just checking what those 6 gal water jugs fit.
An Ammo box gave me some idea's.

Are those the 40mm ammo cans?
