Well everything is always locked up, even the cars in the driveway. Since my wife doesn't camp, she watches the house. No worries, she is locked and loaded. :D

Good topic!

We try not to advertise beforehand that we will be gone. Nothing on forums like this (can't know that potential burglars aren't lurking!) Of course, we do let our neighbors know that we will be gone and the make and model of cars of friends who might stop by to check on pets, etc. We do live in an area where we watch out for each other.

* Same here, plus we have a hyper-sensitive Dorkie (half miniature long-haired Dachschund, half Yorkie) that alerts us if anything comes on our property (she hears everything). And she raises a hell of an alarm" that's why she'll never accompany me on my trips, though I'm her personal human.

* And I have a mutual agreement with an armed neighbor to watch over each other's property, so we're covered.

Well, everything is locked all the time. My son checks the house 2 times a day when he feeds the pets. A friendly/nosy neighbor I feel is my best lookout...

I have not identified a camera system I would trust yet. I've had 2 systems I purchased fail so far in other use......

Locked house, cars & security system in the house & shop, both with a cellular uplink to a monitoring service. I may install some cameras at some point, but in a small town, it's relatively safe where we live. The last "crime" next door was a tagging incident a few years ago, the cops recognized the tagger's handle as soon as it was on the building...
