Camping Adventure

Postby wysedav » Sun Jan 17, 2021 12:08 am

This past year I finished my camper and we used it quite a bit over the summer, mostly one or two night trips within a couple of hours from home. With COVID we've all been working from home and the kids are home schooling too including my son that is a junior in college. Since he is doesn't have any classes onsite he thought it might be a good idea to travel the country in my teardrop and take his classes while camping. I'm pretty much for the idea but I'm a little stressed about him taking my baby and the new Subaru for a 3 month road trip!! There aren't too many times when opportunities like this come up during your life so I'm glad he is up for it. We plan on meeting up with him for a week or two when he gets to Utah or Colorado.

He'll be starting from CT tomorrow, heading south towards Nashville and the Carolinas to see some relatives. From there I think he is planning on going to FL and then start heading West. I'll post pictures as he goes. If anyone is looking for company for a day or two let me know. He's a great kid, respectful and responsible.

That is awesome for him and great for you to support it. Trip of a lifetime.

and being a college student were does he get the mula to take theses trips?

Slow:

Hey, no rent. Groceries are cheaper than cafeteria fees. Subarus don't eat a lotta gas...I think it probably pencils out.

And I also think I'm jealous. Wouldn't it be great?

Expenses shouldn’t be too bad. I’m saving about 7k per semester with him not being at school and he has some savings so I think we’ll definitely be ahead of the game. He has specific instructions not to compromise his schooling, if he can’t maintain his grades due to lack of internet or too many distractions to come home.

I am worried about Covid issues but most states are still open, he’ll have to research each place he is planning to stay at. He just took a Covid test and will have the results with him in case anyone asks.

He left on Sunday early in the afternoon. Made it to Alexandria VA to stay visit a cousin and enjoy one more night in a bed. Last night he stayed in a Walmart parking lot in Virginia going to Shenandoah NP and some cave today. Tonight he’s headed to another cousin in NC. He’s posting his trip on Instagram if your interested. I think he’ll like some additional followers. Feel free to give him recommendations too.

Blue:

I think you nailed it.

I doubt there's anyone on this forum that if they could turn back the clock and do the same thing at his age, they'd jump in.
