painting tip

This is probably obvious to all of you more experienced hands, but I thought I'd pass on a lesson I learned tonight.

I used POR-15 to treat the rust on my old trailer frame. Tonight I went to put the tires back on and discovered the some of this treatment seeped into the holes in my hub where the lug bolts go. I couldn't get the bolts (or studs?) to start for anything. I finally tried screwing them in from the back of the hubs, where there was less spillover. With a lot of arm muscle and spray lube, I finally got them in that way, then in from the front and finally got my tires back on!

Watch where your primer and paint goes when threads are involved! 8)

Perhaps you did this but to dislodge debris from the threads using that method. Best to take a turn or two then back the bolt out a bit to clear the threads and go again, like using a die set.
Glad you got the task accomplished.
