Back on topic... suspension. So it is a torsion system. Which leads to some questions...

The trailer is a 1999 model. It is wet after power washing the underside of the trailer. That's not an oil or grease leak.
How does one determine if the axle is still doing its job? This axle is going on 24 years. Is there a point in its lifetime where you would consider replacing this axle? After inspecting the trailer it appears to me that this rig has seen very minimal mileage. How do I know? I found the tire date code and according to Mr. Google the three digit code changed to a four digit in year 2000. Prior to that the week and last digit of the year were all the information that can be found. I am going to assume that my tire's 228 code is 22nd week of 1998 seeing it is unlikely to be a 1988 tire on a 1999 model trailer. These tires "look" very new, however, I will be replacing them due to age. Actually I was very anxious the entire two hour trip home and took it very easy. Let's just say that these tires won't touch the street in front of the house much less highway speeds again.
