Blow and then plow 6" of heavy wet snow to clear the drive.
I didn't feel like much else when done. :(

A jaunt to the laundry mat. What a nitemare :frightened: The one thing, moving into a travel trailer full time sucks giving up. So, I bet the next upgrade has a washer and dryer  in the damn thing. Maybe a fifth wheel next time, and rework the front to look like a very large teardrop.

Glad you're on the mend edge,,

No one around the area where we live even thinks about others when it comes to being careful while out.. hence the :frightened: going to the laundry mat.

Well, ya gotta admit, that would be very flat.
I have heaps of them, and I bet Edge has too.
Maybe one day when I'm real bored, I'll describe my whole week in Aussie colloquialisms, and see who understands it first.
Should be good for a giggle.

Here is my first entry. FURPHY: A rumour that is completely false. It comes from the Australian trenches in WW1. There was a foundry in Ballarat owned by the Furphy Brothers that won the contact to supply horse drawn water carts to the Army. They had the company name printed in big letters on the water tank. The drivers spread rumors all over the front that were highly unreliable. So now days if we want to call BS on something we say it is a Furphy.

According to the rules in place here I am now allowed out again as it is over a week since I got Covid and I didn't have relevant symptoms in the last 48. The irony is that the rest of the family still have to stay in another week as on their day 6 tests the better half got a positive . The kids are saying "it's a test you are supposed to fail Mum!" They are a little smug they avoided it. I just hope we don't get one person testing positive each week and keeping the household locked in for a month!
On the bright side I can now do things around the house. Starting with fitting a new stereo and reversing camera on the old Tow Vehicle. Que swearing at designer's pathologic need to avoid a nice screw and use silly plastic clips all over the place

Hope for the best edge, maybe you get out of jail in a week?
We've had a couple close family members get it. Quarantine was 14 days I believe. They said it was like the flu for them. He went back to work finally (His words). They were vaccinated, so maybe the reason it was mild, who knows?
To vacc or not? I think is whatever is comfortable for the person. ;)
I've had a reverse camera for 2 years, did nothing with yet. I should put it on the back of the van we're working on.. Had forgot about it, (Thanks for the reminder edge).

I got the power run for charging the TD while driving! Had the relay, switch, wire and plug sitting around for over a year now so it is good to have finally installed it.

Re: What did you do today

I built a rack to hold the 4 x 8 and 5 x 5 sheet material left over from our teardrop build

168123

or, given the way lumber prices have gone, "a portfolio to hold our investments!"

The four lower shelves are 4 x 8, but I extended the upper one back a foot to take 5 foot Baltic birch. Also leaves us some vertical storage for cut-offs in the back.

168126

I used one of my favorite joinery techniques--cutting notches with a circular saw and chisel. No screws supporting the weight. (Although there are some to keep the pieces from falling apart.)

It's built out of all scrap lumber, including some from our cabin build. I designed it to use 2x4's and 2x6's, but found I didn't have enough straight ones for all the legs, and substituted a 6x6 and 12x6 that had been taking up space in the back room for 15 years

168129 168144

(thought about trying to rip them into 2x material, but that would have been tough given the saws we have, and their weight.) I also used the reject 2x6's from four or five projects: twisty! A close look reveals all of the bad ones came from the center of the tree

168127

Our "cabin" is really a framed house with round milled 2x8 on the inside and out. Plenty of cut-offs left over that I've been saving. Some were ripped in half, and I cut those to take the place of 2x4's for the cross pieces.

168128

So this rack will give us back some space in our workshop in two ways!

I also re-positioned our electric heater. It was in the corner right above the only 240 vac outlet in the shop--necessary for the 6 foot cord to reach, but we bought a 25 foot RV 50 amp extension cord. I used scrap 2x to make clips to hold it to the ceiling

168125 168124

This is all in the space the teardrop occupied for 3 years. If we ever build another we'll have to take out the rack.

168132

While I was downstairs doing this, Shelly was upstairs nursing an ankle she sprained last week. We were planning on putting up a wall (a 2 person job, we reckon) to make a room in the back for the 3D resin printer. Since she isn't using steps for awhile, that's postponed, and she's testing out the printer in a spare bedroom. (Pictures coming soon...)

Thank you David. It's nice to have the material that had been taking up space along the walls of the shop stored in a more appropriate way, and it is really satisfying to have used some of the less-reputable scrap wood in our collection to make the rack.
