Hurricane hinge

Postby Chewymayo » Thu Dec 08, 2022 8:11 pm

I have a question. I have been stumped about my rear galley hatch. I am building a square drop, and where I need to put my hurricane hinge one side is level (the roof) the hatch is at 30 degree angle. Will a Hurricane hinge work for me or do I need to figure something else out? Send me pics of what you have done I would really appreciate it.

...the hatch is at 30 degree angle.

You might add a photo so the squaredroppers can visualize your build.

:thumbs-up:

You need to turn down the roof ~4" to make the hinge work. I made the same design mistake initially too. It was not a big deal except for making skinning it with aluminum more involved. Here is mine.

Not sure what you mean about turning down the roof. Do you mean it need to be in the same plain/ angle? Mine is not nearly a severe angle as yours.

I see what you mean now. Is the front of yours flat or do you have it on angles?

This is what I mean. The roof and hatch need to be on the same plane. My front roof is on a 7 degree slope. I have a build journal if interested.
