Peltier AC Cooler

Postby Dahlia47 » Thu Mar 23, 2023 11:08 pm

This isnt on the scale you are thinking. This is a personal AC fan blower thing ma jig. Small scale. I dont expect it to cool down any area. I ordered the parts and it should be done in a couple weeks.
Do any of you have any experience with this? I see it on youtube, i see the rare advertisement. Peltier was mentioned on another forum i visited. Seems to be pretty energy efficient.

I like projects. So this is more of an experiment and something to do in my extra time. This one has caught my attention.

I haven't seen many reports of reasonable capacity to cool an area with these. But good on you to give it a try. I love to tinker with gadgets so I'll be watching for your results. I'm am interested in how effective they are at cooling a small space such as a teardrop.

As you build be sure to accommodate for any condensation that may build up. Inside a teardrop the humidity levels may go high with a couple of bodies breathing all night.

Peltier effect chips are most certainly heat pumps, but they are generally pretty inefficient.
You'll need to have a heat sink on the hot side of the chip that is able to radiate the heat being pumped to the outside of your cabin.
Sorry, I can't see this being very successful.

I used to assemble the coolers that you power by your cig lighter. I can assemble a heat sink and cold sink blind folded lol! I dont expect it to do much. Im kinda curious.

What? That's crazy talk. Start enhancing the teardrop, tear out something and put it back in better. There's always something to upgrade/change!
