General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

I picked me up 2 baofeng XR radios recently. One for the teardrop and one for me when I go hiking .
Loaded all the (frs) channels and even some I pick up in the city.
No license yet.

I like more power so that's why the XR was the choice.

I have a Midland MXT275 MicroMobile mounted in the Jeep. Really like it works great and is very clear compared to CB.

I also have a Baofeng UV-5 programmed for GMRS and a Btech GMRS-V1, both are nice radios, the Btech is a dedicated GMRS radio so right out of the box it is ready to go. No programming and less buttons to push by mistake and get on the wrong frequency or channel.

If you have the license for GMRS already it is the way to go.

I see this post is a bit old, but I wanted to chime in. We had a similar issue on our first camping trip with a new setup. We had trouble communicating because of poor cell reception and the trailer’s metal walls. After some research, we ended up getting a couple of Motorola two way radios. They worked great for backing the trailer into tight spots and for talking across the campground. We also used them on a family hike and found the range pretty reliable, even with kids running around. For your needs, I’d suggest looking into radios with decent range and clear audio. They might be a bit of an investment, but they make a huge difference in staying connected.
