General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

The snowbear is $1299. It seems that everything up here is just a little more than down there. Just a fact of life. But we'll have to do some checking around to see what else we can find.

Cathy,

There are always options. You can come to Lake Orion and have my fabricator build one. Depending on your options it might run between $500 and $800.

Here's another option. I got this email from a trailer dealer today. He's on the web at http://www.cttrailers.com I think he delivers...

Mike,

Thanks for your inquiry on our open trailers.
You contacted the right person...I'm already familiar with the tear drop style trailer as I have considered building one myself.
Also just had another local inquiry for a base trailer for the same purpose (building a tear drop).
The steel 5x8 on our website is certainly and option and can be made without the side rails and without the rear gate. Price is $980-
For the same price you should also consider the Worthington 4.6x8. This is an all aluminum framed trailer with a torsion axle suspension and a plywood decking (the side rail as shown are optional) . (see www.worthingtontrailers.com )

Please contact me for further information.

Maybe someone here can use this information...
The quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten, so build your teardrop with the best materials...

I visited this retailer. I was curteously shown around. As I asked more questions, the atmosphere turned to indifference (I was asking to see different alu./steel models). After about 10 minutes, the salesman went back inside.

When I was done looking around, I returned to the office and asked the salesman if I should talk to him or Mike. I was told to wait for Mike, who was "almost done" talking to another customer. After waiting 15 minutes, I left.

The type of trailer I was looking at was at the very bottom of the heap of what they sell (price-wise) and I had the impression the first salesman (not Mike) thought I wasn't worth his time.

Their trailers are very well constructed (using torsion), very light (starting at 210#), but pricey (for me). Visiting them convinced me that Harbor Freight was more in line with my budget.

The bad news is I have been told by H/F (called yesterday), that my ordered trailer may not get here for another 3 weeks. I will be on an extremely tight schedule if that is true....

Thanks for the offer Mike but...I just checked mapquest....1976 miles and 33 hours driving time. Plus 30% exchange rate. I think $1299 sounds cheap now

I'm not really worried, we'll figure things out this winter. Got lots of time to research.
