Lazy hazy crazy days of teardrop summer

Postby mikeschn » Fri Aug 27, 2004 4:23 pm

It's amazing how quiet it is on here this afternoon/evening. You'd think everyone was out camping again. And maybe you all are. But here in MI it's so hot and humid and sticky, you walk outside and break out in an instant sweat. Not exactly perfect teardrop building weather. :(

So we'll head out of town for a day and a half or so, probably end up spending all our time indoors, huddled in front of an a/c. It's weekends like this that re-inforce my decision to get an a/c into the teardrop. How else would you get a good nights sleep?

I'd like to grab an a/c and set it on the "blanket chest" of the weekender and see what it does to the tongue weight. If it's too heavy I might require a major redesign. And you thought designing was easy! Constraints... remember, there's always constraints!!!

Anyways, hope there's a bunch of you working on the materials list for the lowest cost teardrop... that should generate a bunch of new ideas, and also let the low cost folks know, what low cost really means.

I have an example of a low cost price list... do you want me to post it for you....? It could be the number to beat!!! ???

Okay... I roughed out something... and I do declare, it's really rough... but just for you guys...

And if I made any errors, blame it on the white wine in my avatar!!!

I can take another look at it Monday when I get back into town... and you can tell me what I missed... and I know I missed a few items...

That was my disclaimer...

Here's the list...

Back from VT. The idea of an a/c under the trailer and a 4" drier hose fascinates me. I'm looking for a good way to feed the a/c cool air into the floor/side wall of the t/d.

btw, SOMEthing is waiting to be delivered by truck to my home. If it is the trailer, I will be amazed....

Went to sheep dog trials this weekend in Mid VT.... very nice country. Having a t/d would have made it much simpler....

BTW, I looked at a Snowbear 4.5' x 10' trailer today... That might work for a "slightly larger" teardrop. It was certainly light enough! Oh yes, Home Depot... roughly $542.

They said 2 pallets, 300 pounds.... that would mean... trailer.

However, they also said "10 sprayers". Huh..??

I do believe it is the trailer, ordered on Aug 19th... delivered is just over one week. Maybe.

Can't be harbour freight...they NEVER deliver in under 3-4 weeks anything. :)

Luckily I have a Harbour Freight store 2hrs from me in Nashville, TN. ME and the Father-in-law are thinking of sneaking down there minus the wives and get me that 1175# trailer as a base for a Comet or Benroy TD. :) We are going with the traditional TD shape, no sharp angles.
