Question for Zyamfier

Postby Classic Finn » Sat Jan 23, 2010 2:19 pm

Hello

I have a few questions about the doors on your beautiful tear.

What material is that and how thick is it? Would you happen to have more close up pics of it? Im curious about how they are made and installed..  what size is it? The reason Im asking is Id like to try that type of door on a future tear. :designing:

Its impressive.

I'm not Zyamifier but have a Teardrop that has the same doors.

They are made from a tinted plexiglass that is about 3/8" thick. The size is an irregular one that fits the door opening and they are installed using conventional hinge hardware. The unique thing about them other than the irregular size is the edge of the door is routed so than when closed it makes a VERY tight seal. My Teardrop is virtually air tight with doors and vent latched.

I have had other builders look at my doors and they claim that whoever mad them really know what they are doing because plexiglass is not that easy to work with.

You might try the builder by going to this site http://lassenviewcustoms.teardrops.net

Thank you kindly Ed. Do you happen to have photos of the window and edge as well as how it sits when closed?

No, sorry. I'm also in Mexico at this time with only a film camera (remember those).

Maybe Zyamifier will sign on and he can get some pictures to you?

I was in contact with Lassenview many years ago. When 1st starting out and being a greenhorn on the forum here.
He did send me photos and info. I lost my hard drive then and lost much in info and photos. But our Laws and Beauracracy would have not passed this tear here. So sad.

Beautiful tear never the less.

When I was building my first TD I pm'd Zyamfir to look at his td to get some ideas, he said I was lucky to catch him because he doesn't check in too regularly. I bet with a little patience he will get to you.

I looked his trailer over and thought it was pretty nice and thought out. I like those doors because they are one piece and the hardware goes right on them. My door was a construction project in itself with all the parts!
I had already built my doors before I met Zyamfir and decided to stick with the ones I had, but did see alot of good ideas.

See I do check in here and do a search for my name every once and a while. Gearing up for the ITG always gets me on here a bit more.

Currently the trailer is sitting outside in the dark. But rest assured I will get the camera out here this week and take some picks. I have been asked by several MINI owners about the trailer so I guess I may have to make a facebook page for the dragon wagon.
Catch you all later.
