Has anyone ever owned their own campground?

There is a small campground on the creek here that I seriously considered buying butttt a couple of years ago the majority of it was under water from a flood. They lost 2 seasons in the last 4 from flooding. And the price Half that and I might have gone for it anyway. This is Under Cliff campground in Tipton Ford, MO

I actually have a plan to do exactly this. While the campground is not the main focal point, living in the woods is, and having a few sites setup for gatherings, and music is just a great by product

I have been building the cabin the last couple years. Almost done
I have no desire to rent out camping spots but have had teardrop friends for small imformal gatherings for several years. We have a get-together planned for May.
Any time teardroppers are travelling in NE Iowa they are welcome

Miriam, that looks like a nice campground. There are lots of mature trees but I don't it would be a good buy if there is a chance of flooding. I've seen some campgrounds that were for sale for over a million dollars. That's crazy. I think it would be fun to have a teardrop and motorcycle campground...no big rv's.

Randy, you have the right idea to host informal small gatherings of friends! I will have to remember your place next time I'm going thru NE Iowa. What a beautiful property!

As a young boy, my father had a christmas farm in Maine. There were camp sites on the property for the summertime workers and some for campers. It was fun except for mowing grass and cleaning toilets (both were my job). The people who came every year were very nice. Sometimes we would get some PITAs but they usually never came back. My Dad ran a tight ship and would not put up with them. All in all ,I very much miss that life.

I have a friend that I have been wanting to visit for a couple of years, this might work out some time! I can't do it now, but please let me know if any gatherings pop up since I didn't usually hang out in the NW forum! Very nice~
