truck camper

My girl friend and I are planning an extended trip next summer. For various reasons, we want to keep the overall length of our rig down. This means mounting the camper on the truck rather than towing it behind.
She's disabled and has some special requirements that none of the factory-built campers meet.

I'm pretty much resigned to building my own, although I'm still hoping to find a shell (either a cargo trailer or truck body) cheaper than I can build my own, and then fit out the interior. If I find a cargo trailer, I'll remove the axle and tongue to mount it on the truck. Either way, I expect to have to temporarily remove the pickup box and mount the camper directly on the truck frame. Even if I build from scratch, we'll need the extra space we can gain by having the full width of the camper all the way to the floor rather than having to narrow it to fit into a pickup box.

I've searched all the combinations of words I could think of, and so far only found 2 truck campers on this site. Are there more of them that I havn't found? Does anyone know of a site like this, but directed to truck campers? The only truck camper sites I've found are for factory-built campers.

I haven't seen much discussion here about that, but there are probably ideas that will apply.

I Google'd "build your own truck camper" and found all kinds of stuff.
