SCTT Final Lake PERRIS Teardrop gathering

Postby kartvines » Fri Mar 11, 2011 7:55 am

Well folks the final Lake Perris gathering is only weeks away, and the weather seem to be warming up for it, not many postings about it on this forum, unlike past years, so was wondering who was planing to attend?

I will be there and it is the last for the SCTT but I have heard there is someone that is going to take it over.

SCTT Lake Perris Gathering

Postby kartvines » Fri Mar 11, 2011 5:59 pm

Great to here more are attending, look forward to seeing you Gage have not seen you since Pismo beach. As far as why this is the last event Dave and Deane no longer want to sponsor the event and so far no one else has stepped up to take the even over, so unless another person and or group want to get involved it will be over this year.

Maybe we will get the news that it as been picked up, I have not heard it yet.
Have you heard anything Gage?

Well, what I have heard is that someone (I know who, but can't say right now) was going to take it over but backed out when some stipulations were placed on the takeover. Rumor has it though that a gathering/rally will be held there in the future but not by SCTT. Dave wants to retire from putting on gatherings and just go and enjoy them without all the BS that comes his way during the gathering. I don’t blame him one bit. It's hard to put on a teardrop only gathering now days. Everyone wants to be included. ;)

Gage

That are what they told me last year, and it would be nice to see someone pick it up, but I guess we will find out, if and when it happens

The Palmer Boys (John and Troy) will be there with two brand new tear drops. Stop by the red '32 Roadster and say hi.

Teardrops only events

Postby Wild Bill » Sat Mar 12, 2011 2:28 pm

Why can't everyone be included? Simply have an area set aside for the tear drops and another area for everyone else, All share the love of good company, great food and camping in the great outdoors. Everyone can still have a good time. 8) Bill

Bill!

This subject has been beat to death on more than one occasion ... ...! Bottom line is, it's the discretion of the promoter/hosts, and if it doesn't set well with certain folks, there's always someplace else they can go. The S.C.T.T. Gathering has always been a celebration of Teardrop Trailers by-and-for the people who own and use them, and for the first 10 years it was also a matter of space ... as in, barely enough to hold the teardrops that attended.

Please, let's not have this thread spin off in a bad direction ... ;) ...!

Postby Roly Nelson » Sun Mar 13, 2011 10:48 pm

I've just finished the Swedish, yellow and blue paint job on my little 245 lb, 6 ft long, 1/4 Nelson "Stacker" and will taking it on it's maiden voyage to Lake Perris. How nice it is to finally be able to make it up a freeway onramp, doing 70mph with my 4 banger Camry. It's kind of like only having a 245 pounder in the front seat with me.

I plan to arrive on Thursday, and am looking forward to seeing many of my teardrop friends. To those that may ask, yes, I do stack it up on end and store it against the wall, in the garage. And, yes, I actually sleep in there, (ALONE, since there aren't many real skinny 78 year-olds, looking for a place to crash). Once in my 40 inch wide bed, my toes touch the hatchlid when closed and a removable screen, just below the gallley counter, provides fresh air along with the roof hatch, on warm nights.

I started this build 7 years ago,and had it on it's wheels in 3 weeks, as seen in my gallery. Then after a long, 'back-burner' life, it's now ready to join me at Perris, Minden, Lake Shasta and a lengthy vacation from retirement, back to my roots in the mid-west this summer. Ah, isn't life great? Long live teardrops and tiny trailers.
8) :? Roly, just doin' it a bit differently, but at least I'm doin' it. See ya there!
