tropical roof

Does anyone have any experience with tropical roofs? I'm referring to a second roof skin mounted about an inch above the real roof with air circulation between them. I've never seen one on a trailer, but I remember seeing them on early Land Rovers. In fact, I think they may have been a factory option.

Specifically, how was yours attached. What was it made of (sheet metal, fiberglass, maybe even stretched fabric)? Did you have any problems with it lifting and trying to peel off? Did it whistle? Did it collect debris (leaves, bugs or whatever) between the layers? Any other issues ?

Tropical Roof... Sorry did not know what it was till you said it and I googled it.

I've not seen it done before. Not a bad idea for extra protection. I think if I was going to do it, I'd probably make it out of a padded marine vinyl and snap it along the sides much alike the skin folks are putting on their screen top trailers.

i assume its to lesson the heat from the sun. and it should do that.
for a teardrop, i think a silver or white poly tarp spaced off with a couple of those kids foam pool noodles would work pretty much the same.
at least to experiment and see if it works . would be cheap that way.
