Here's some Insulation info to review. Lotsa detail, so pick & choose...

Many rigid Board Insulations are spec'd to be covered by Fire-slowing >1/2" Drywall. So, don't assume something Petrochemical-based [like some of these Foam Boards] is Fire resistant just because it's used in Home apps. There's objective Flammability Test specs/info below and/or on other Websites. No need to guess on that Insulation characteristic...

I like 'Thermax' [PolyIso], due to it having very high R Value/inch. It's very dense and uniform throughout, unlike bead-based, closed cell Insulation. I've used it in House projects and Solar Shutters; not in a TD or TT project. Being comfy rocks; I don't much care about cost. An equivalent to Thermax is at Home Despot.

I greatly respect the flammability issue, fo sho, but the overall topic brings to mind a saying a Female Boss used to cite in certain no-win situations: 'Stick a fork in my *ss, I'm done'! Meaning, in situations like Fire in a small volume, typical RV-type materials go up fast: Couch Cushions; some types of Blankets; etc..

My approach is a good multi-function Alarm [Smoke, CO] and a larger-than-average Fire Extinguisher so that 'stuff' would keep coming out within reason so long as I keep pulling the handle. Oxygen is displaced, typically, so Life's a series of tradeoffs...

I used to really clock the Int'l Air Miles. Never crashed - knock on Masonite - but I know it's the toxic smoke from Seat Covers; Foam Cushions; and internal coverings that often get you in a Plane fire.

Point impact.... dat could be bullets, spears, arrows..... sounds like the making of an armageddon bug out vehicle... :twisted: Need a few layers of kevlar somewhere in the mix. :thumbsup:

Hmmm ???? All Carbon fiber teardrop .... Never rot eh ??? Light too !!! :thinking: Schmaybe' a bit pricy :o

Nah, I'm more thinking about hail.
Nice quarter sizel hail might leave the skin undamaged but crush the foam underneath. (the skin can spring back without showing major cracks)
All of those dents in the foam are a delaminated spot.
Next time driving down the highway at 65.........and the roof comes off.
Or cutting a corner too much and bumping the mail box.....

As soon as the core and skin are detached from each other, you lose the strength of the composite.

Oh, and a carbon fiber teardrop may get too hot and the resin could fail.
