Trailer Fenders

Postby pete42 » Sun Apr 03, 2011 9:17 am

I have been looking at R&R cargo trailers for a couple of years but due to my health I haven't bought one.
yesterday I stopped by again only to discover they have gone from a metal fender to a diamond plate fender.
they also ring the trailer with diamond plate, I do like it on the front to protect from road debris damage but not around the trailer.
I might add the diamond plate is very thin and when I pushed down on it it bent there's no way you could sit or stand on it.

I have seen some very neat fenders that have been added to TD's and other builds has anyone seen the diamond plated ones and what kind do you have or like?

There is a "Diamond Plate" aluminum that is used in the RV industry that is very cheap. And I think that's what your looking at.

The stuff is very thin and although it looks like standard Diamond Plate offers no structural value what so ever. It will dent just like standard Trailer siding.

It can be seen on the front of trailers as a "Rock Guard"....HA!

Strictly cosmetic.

No I said R&R made in michigan and I was refering to the fenders not the trailer.

I think you are right it was so light that when I pushed down on the top the ends would flex outward
I did send them an e-mail saying if I could not get metal fenders like before It was a deal breaker for me.
then again maybe the buyers of the trailers ordered the diamond plate fenders.
