Gus,
When I pulled the fuse and relay for aux power, the trailer lights were still on. When the key is out, the lights are actually powered from the trailer battery. Some how the a circuit is looping through the truck tt lights pin.

I had the same problem with my td and Subaru Forester, I had a direct short in the TD lights which cause the converter relay in the wire harness for my Subaru to short out and put power to the lights all the time. Put new converter in and fixed the short all works fine now.

From what you say, I gather that the lights are off when the trailer is disconnected from your truck making it clear the truck's wiring is the problem.

You're making progress. I doubt that you'll void your warranty if you pull apart the connector on your truck and look for a short. Quick and easy. If you don't find the problem there, I think it is a problem that should be covered under your truck's warranty.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Cheers,

Gus

Here is the resolution of the problem.

I took my truck down to the Ford dealer for warranty repair. They found the short with the power lead and the lights wire. It was in the harness near the front of the truck.

All works now. Thanks for all of the great suggestions in this thread.
