Hitchsafe

I was wondering if anybody uses a Hitchsafe that fits in the receiver and how they like them? We need something in the event we lose our keys or what have you and thought these looked good. Any pros? Cons? Thanks!

Never heard of them before so I searched http://www.hitchsafe.com/

It wouldn't work for me. I live on gravel and I am constantly cleaning my receiver of debris.

What do you do with it when you are towing???

Won't work for those of us with 1-1/4" receivers either.

Lots of smaller cars and SUVs have smaller receivers.

I use a hide a key that attaches with Velcro. I've lost the magnetic type in the past.

Yet another item in the plethora of RV merchandise....I've lived years without something like this and reckon I can go the distance without it as well however, some people may draw benefits from this.., it's a useful idea.

I have used this reciever safe for two years now and have no complaints, although I've yet to have to retrieve my keys from it, I still check it from time to time.

My father always kept a key taped to a water hose in the engine compartment with black electrical tape. Of course, your car can't have a hood that has an inside release. I'm sure you could find a place to tape a key for emergency access. Those little combination locks, IMHO, seem awfully vunerable to dirt and corrosion depending on where you live.

Cheers,

Gus
