Camping Itch

Postby the other side » Sun Apr 10, 2011 3:33 pm

I am getting the itch REALLY bad to go camping. My first trip for this year will be to Williamsburg VA to go to Colonial Williamsburg, etc. I have the itch SO BAD. Anyone in the Maryland/Virginia area that has any local small trips planned SOON? And to where?

Yes!!! This coming weekend the Chesapeake Chapter of Tearjerkers is meeting with the PA and NJ chapters at French Creek State Park. While there's no more room in the C loop and it IS the opening of trout season this coming weekend, I bet you can find space in an alternate loop and then hang out with the 30 TDs planning on being there!!

Hugs,

I went on their website and I guess I have to check off that I have a 15ft camper? Not looking too good for me to go. I couldnt access all the sites, but it looks like they are mainly FULL! I will keep watching though! It would be a great idea to go! Thanks!!!

LOL they don't have a camper selection for "less than 15 ft". Remember, that's tongue to bumper. I think my Little Guy RT is 13" end to end.

Will you be camping with kitty in the pic? :) We'd love to meet the kitty!
So do you live in PA,VA,MD,DC?
So if they dont have room for a 15 ft camper then they dont have room for me right? Its not like the smaller size will get me in there right? If not, thats ok, we will just catch you all some other time this season!!!

Hehe, Boss Kitty is staying home. He has to watch over the parrot. Even the dogs will stay home as they have not had baths and are very stinky. LOL. Bossman got his forever home with me last July. He had been languishing at the vets for 9 months after being dropped off to be euthanised at age 2 (the vet just took him in). He has since taken over the house and the poor golden retrievers have no idea what to do with this kitty who wants to play with them. None of the other kitties that have ever lived with me have paid any attention to the dogs. He's a little lover boy and and likes to be held like a baby and have his head scratched. Who would ever give up such a sweetie?

I'm from MD near the University.

When all else fails, you can call the park and ask if there are any spaces in other loops. I know C loop is full. You might be able to talk a park ranger into giving you a tent site if it's close to the road.

Well he's adorable! My daughter would try to catnap him! I have an Orange Winged Amazon that needs a home. It is a female that needs to live with a female human. She seems to "Overbond inappropriatly" with human males. The result is the amazon yell. If you know of a new home let me know! If it doesn't work out she can be sent back here.
We are by Patuxent River Naval Air Station.
I will call the camp ground to see if there is a spot for us! Some state parks will keep a few spots open for people that stop in that night. We'll see!
I was thinking about getting my husband an RT. If I get to go to French Creek then I can check yours out. I have never seen one in person! I have a Silver Shadow. My daughter and I are in love with it! It's the best thing since the Wii and Nintendo DS to her! What do you do about "kitchen" stuff in an RT?

My parrot is also an Oranged Winged Amazon!! His name is Buford and he's 17 yrs old. I adopted him when I was in TX and he was 2.5 yrs old.

I've tried to have 2 parrots in the same house and Buford was way too jealous and both birds screamed in stereo. Buford by himself is a pretty mellow fellow.

PS Bossman is one of those sweet cats that ask to be picked up and he cuddles too. He's currently in the chair where one of the goldens normallly sleeps. He loves to boss them around. LOL.

Oops, was so excited about the parrots that I forgot to tell you about kitchen stuff.

I'm not a cook and like to snack on stuff all day. The most I'll do is grill a hot dog. LOL. My baby sister, however, has the entire kitchen (plus an oven/stove combo and a couple of sinks!). She loves to cook gourmet stuff.

I like to camp in Shenandoha NP when it gets hot here in MD/DC. I'd rather not have much food in the camper when there are bears about (just black bears).

I looked up the Air Station and you are about 2 hrs from me. I live near the "n" in the Washington name on Google Maps LOL.

Well if you want to try another one again... we'd take her back if it didnt work out! I think mine is a little older than yours! Maybe they have to get married!!!
What do you do about kitchen stuff for your RT? If I had an RT I think I would put cooking/kitchen stuff in the car/truck.

I have seen and exit Landover on the beltway. Are you kind of near there? That looks to be where the N in Washington is??? I am atleast 2 hours from ANYWHERE!!! LOL We are down here a bit!!! If that is where you are, by Landover, how long will it take you to get to French Creek? And, what day are you going to get there and leaving? Wouldn't it be cool to follow eachother! I think the cars would think we are dog kennels on wheels, but 2 in a row, one being an RT ! LOL

Oh, and next time you go to the Shenandoahs, let me know (if you want company that is)! My daughter and I might be able to tag along.

You bet!!! I escape there a lot. I don't have AC in my house and it makes the weekends tolerable.
