WD, is this a trailer you're building or one you have now? Have you seen the way the couch folds out to a bed in the Squidget? If not, go to my plans WEB site below and click on the video in the menu to the left to see how it works. If this would work for you, I'll send you the instructions and drawings to use as a baseline to design your own setup.

fold up couch

Postby Boanerges4 » Sun Apr 17, 2011 8:22 pm

Cracker39, thanks for the reply. Im still in the planning stages on my floor plan. it looks like I might have as much room as 76 inches wide by 62 deep. I noticed on your sight that your sofa did not go all the way to rear wall, is there some reason for this? And yes I would appreciate the measurements plus any other pics you might have. Thanks for being so helpful.

Cracker39, I just went to your website and went to where you have the video of the bed/couch. I think my brain has finally gotten around the idea. Thanks so much for the informative info. :applause:

Yes there is. I left the space behind the couch to hold the other two cushions that go with the couch seat and back cushions to make up the length of the bed, and for the rolled up 2" memory foam mattress. It was just a convenient place to keep them. If I had put the couch all the way back, the couch back frame would have to have been nearly a foot higher unless the extra length was taken up by a two layer seat that folded on out.

My bed for the Squidget and for the PT is 78" long by 58" wide, almost queen sized. I put a lateral framing piece in each wall to fasten the bed rails to that support the couch frame when it slides forward.

Mine was a full size bed foam mattress I simply cut it in 1/2 head to foot.

The couch in couch position make a very comfortable single bed. I simply rearrange the supports to make a double full size bed when the wife is along. There are several pics in the album.

Boanerges4, I just finished the frames for the folding bed in the PT and put photos in the build topic. Go the last page of the topic to see the bed/couch frames.

I did a sliding bed instead of a folding, but similar concept.
