Howdy,

Google speed limits of states and Wikepedia will have a USA map keyed by color to various speed limits of each state. One can readily see that Wisconsin and Illinois in red stand out like a sore thumb in comparison to speed limits in the adjoining states.

Always remember to adhere to "as posted" because certain areas fund their police departments through the wallets of 'foreign" drivers. For instance, some towns will have three to four speed limits on the same road which are limited to change in something like every 300 feet a sign has to be posted of the change. I call these tourist or speed traps.

Somewhere on I94 after crossing into Wisconsin, the speed limit for trailers is posted at 55mph whereas the legal limit is 65mph. I can read the sign from the interstate; but I don't know if the 55mph speed limit applies ot the "feeder" or access roads adjacent to the freeqay.

Here in Texas, a bill before the legislature will change the speed limit on the interstaes and limited access highways to 80mph! Statistics show that increasing the speed limit actually lowers the fatalities. All this shows is that people don't obey speed limits any way. In Texas, I call it "frontier mentality!"

I never get speeding ticket because after 58mph fuel mileage drops off significantly. In eight hours of driving at 5mph over, nets approximately 40 more miles. Insignificant in my book!

What I do not like are the tourist or speed traps!

Take care,
Maury
