To tow our pop up camper, we borrow our brother in laws pick up truck. A couple of years ago, approximately 25 miles from home, the truck hit a bump, and the pop up came off, going down a hill. The hitch itself had come undone from the truck! The bolts that hold the hitch on had rusted through!
Luckily, the pop up did not roll, and the damage was to the front panel both inside and out. We had the camper towed home, duct taped the damage, and five hours later we were on our way again!

Check the bolts that hold the hitch onto the vehicle!
