Hard parts to find?

Postby M. Olsen » Tue Apr 27, 2004 11:22 pm

Hey guys I was just wondering what parts are you having a hard time finding? I have a couple of sources for parts and I have been kicking around the idea of putting together a web store to fill in the stuff that you can't find at the other teardrop parts web sites. Just looking for some input before I go off and put his together.

Thanks!

I still can't find any Al (well I cann but it's on the other coast) and since I'm going 5x10 by almost 6' wide it tougher. And I haven't even looked for trim pieces yet. I know there are lot's of places out there( just that shipping on some items cost more than the part!)

I've ordered my locks and handles and "hurricane" hatch from Grant, which was reasonable shipping. The problem I see is if I need to order trim, because of it's length it's either cut-down, or shipped "oversized" which means $$$

Hey Mike,

The market is tiny tiny tiny. Are you sure you want to have money tied up in inventory for years and years, and then dump your inventory at a loss, because there really just isn't much of a market?

Just my thoughts.

Mike...

The quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten, so build your teardrop with the best materials...

Sorry, no real sources for aluminum that would be economical enough to do on a web store. Some of the things that I was thinking of were some of the electrical items. I can get the fuse blocks either with or with out a ground post. I can also get the 115 VAC inlet to hook up to shore power. I can also get the '39 Ford teardrop taillights. There are some other things that I have access to that I thought would be good to share with others.

I wouldn't be doing this to make a living, but if I could use the sources that I have to help others build and enjoy these little trailers it would be worth it. I'll have to see what the other things are on my list that I left at work.

Have a great day.
