Whatcha Think? (Build outline)

Postby justageorgiaguy » Wed Jan 04, 2012 4:24 pm

This is still on the list after a new deck and new shed, so I have plenty of time to plan this out further.

I love the look of the SerroScotty Hilander, but I don't want/need a 16' trailer. I would love to get it between 10-12'.

So, I took the general shape of Doug Hodder's Sierra Nomad and then overlayed the Hilander profile and molded the "hump" into the design.

I don't want it to be a Sierra Nomad knock-off, so I will modify it a little more I am sure, especially windows etc.

I want a modern interior much like the T@B's.

I think this is close to 12' long and 6-7 ft high. (still playing with it).

Any thoughts or pitfalls you see with this size/shape?

Looks cool to me!

Will it be a standy or slouchy?

James....are you sure you need the top hump or is it more for the fun of the design? I'm like 6'2" or at least was and can pretty much stand in mine with just the drop floor. I guess it all depends on how tall the rest of the trailer is. Is your plan to make it fit in a standard garage? Doug

Doug,

The hump is more for the profile shape to match the HiLander model. I don't have a carport or garage just yet, so height isn't a huge concern. I will be building a shed, but I will make sure the lean-to or awning is high enough to fit a camper of this size or similar. I love your Sierra Nomad, but I didn't want to copy it, so I thought of adding the extra to change the profile.

Thanks!
-James

Here's the HiLander for comparison:
