General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

Advice please

Postby Dave Armstrong » Fri Jan 06, 2012 1:03 pm

Hi All
I have been thinking for a while about building a Teardrop.
But I now have a VW T4 crew cab truck with a 8 x 5 loading bed on the rear.
So what I am now thinking is making a demountable to sleep 2 as more of a weekender/overnight thing.
Would like a pop up roof, but when closed the height is 41".

Any help advice/pointers/ideas would be great.

Thanks Dave

Look about 7 post down......

google " mini truck slid in camper " for images of dozens and dozens of ideas

One of those flat fiberglass tonneau covers with a canvas type expansion
section on short 3' - 4' walls would work well. Someone on here just finished a real nice trailer using a truck topper as the roof section on fixed walls. It's all possible......

I like the way this guy thinks.....

One thought, since the rig is removable why worry about the taller profile as it will only be a small penalty when it's mounted for camping. Anything moving up and down is an invite to water intrusion. This guys answer was a simple attempt to streamline his with an air deflector.
