Old Tear Spotted In The Wild

Postby KCStudly » Mon Feb 27, 2012 12:23 am

All the guys at work know that I am actively designing and building a foamie, so when my coworker, and all around good guy, Larry spotted this old teardrop in a hotel parking lot in Pennsylvania. He took a bunch of great pictures to show me all of the details. Thought you all might like to see them, too!

If anyone can identify the OEM or recognizes this specific vehicle, please feel free to share.

I love that profile!
By the way, I'm in S.E. Ct. too, over in Pawcatuck. I'm in the beginning stages of a Benroy! Bet we'll be meeting out there somewhere fairly soon. Also saw an introductory post yesterday from someone in Storrs.

That is a Modernistic (or Cub) from about 1947. Look to be in pretty much original condition.

Looks like a Cub to me, I think I can see screws rather than rivets and the fenders are more the Cub style that I've seen. Wonder where they found that one, and who owns it. The water fill and roof hatch aren't original but it looks to be in good undamaged shape. Bob

After talking with Larry again I have edited the original post to say that this tear was spotted in Pennsylvania, not Rhode Island.

To look at the pictures I'd say that it was being used, not just a barn find or such.

Nice.

Hey Dean in Ct, yeah we're close. My wife works over in Westerly and we get over there occasionally just puttering around.

Let me know if you need a hand with any of those jobs that just seem to need two or more people. I'd love to see your design and build progress.

Do you have a build thread going yet? If so, you should put a link to it in your signature line.

Storrs? Was that in the "introduce yourself" section?

Hey we're going to have quite the little crop of TD's coming out of our area soon, now aren't we. Build on!!!

California plate from 71 or earlier. CA plate on the tv, too. Some crazy left coasters on vacation, for sure!

That is a nice trailer. Hmmm...I'll keep my eyes peeled out here at gatherings and see if we can wrangle this one into the group (or buy his tear from him!!)
