Conspicuity Tape Question

Postby Todah Tear » Fri Mar 16, 2012 2:12 pm

Does anyone know whether there are any rules regarding placement of the white and red sides of conspicuity tape. I was going to get some for the back of my camper. I notice that the strips have one side that is white and the other side is red. Does anyone know whether white goes to the right and red to the left or visa-versa?

That tape isnt required for trailers less than 10,000lbs GVWR. Heres a great page for lighting/visibility info...

Having worked on big trucks & trailers for many years I never heard of a left or right issue. I have the tape on our CT Uhaul's bumper and on the rear bike rack just for added visibility. I installed the tape so red is on each end. I also just installed tail/stop/turn lights on the bike rack for extra safety. My local ACE Hardware store has the tape in a big roll and sells it by the foot. Bob

Thanks for the responses guys. I mainly wanted to install it for visibility purposes too.

Thanks for the tip about ACE saling it by the foot. I'll check to see if my local one has it. I've already bought 2 pre-cut pieces online, but if I can get it locally, that would be great.
