box idea for storing my porta potti

Postby PKCSPT » Sat Jun 16, 2012 7:35 pm

I bought a porta potti and thought it would be easy to find a rubbermaid container to store it in on the front of my tear. Having browsed through several stores and Northern Tool Supply, Home Depot I am out of places to look. Building creativity is not a strong point for me which is why I bought a manufactured tear.
Anybody have any ideas? Suggestions?

Karen,

Have you looked at the plastic tongue boxes? Do you have room for one of those? Also, you could possibly use a large plastic laundry basket. The bottom of those is solid and the basket weave sides would make it easy to tie everything down, crossing the ties over top of the potty to keep it from jumping out of the basket.

Another idea is to leave the porta potty empty until you get to your destination and then empty it again before you leave. That way, it could sit inside your cabin during travel. (Tie it down so it can't fall over, just in case there is residual liquid inside.)

Or, you could return the porta-potty, get your money back, and buy a Luggable Loo. With that, you dump its contents, via the enclosured bag, daily; so, the seat and bucket stays dry and it can travel anywhere without smell or liquid problems.

I went with the porta potti thinking more of my grandkids, just starting potti training and thought this might be easier for them in a campground. I have no idea what the name is but I have a little red thing I been using which works for me during the night and restrooms during the day. I just don't want the porta in my camper or my car after it has been used empty or not.
I haven't been able to find a tongue box locally that will fit my tear, pretty small tongue area. May have to use a laundry basket til I find something better.

Karen, I found a smaller black tongue box at Harbor Freight. It was on sale, 1/2 off plus they allowed the 20% off on Easter Sunday. I wanted a silver one, but I sure couldn't beat the under $100 price.

Also, Tractor Supply has a couple of smaller tongue boxes.

1st, use great chemicals for smells, second, when you dump most places have water for cleaning also. I carry some Clorox wipes to clean the potty regularly...So easy.

 Left off the best idea...Roof rack!!!
