Water leak in galley

I have a slight leak in the galley. I think I've narrowed it down to the tail lights in the galley lid. I used flushed mounted L.E.D. tail light unit in the lid. I think the water is coming in around the mounting gromets. I made the holes to specs according to the mounting instruction, but I didn't use any sealent when I installed them. Has anyone else used this kind of lights in their galley lid and what if any sealent was used?

It wouldn't take much to seal the holes and mounting screws would it? That is the first thing I would do. A dab of silicon should do the trick.

Just about any type of sealant will work. I used latex sealant between the rubber gasket and aluminum.

Yep,
It was leaking around the tail light grommets. I had used sealent when I installed them, but had forgot that it was used. For some reason the sealent doesn't stick to the rubber mounting grommets. I't stuck to the aluminium skin, but not the rubber. I'm going to remove the light unit's and wipe down the rubber with brake cleaner or paint reducer and then use fine sandpapper on it and reseal. Hopefully it'll stick then.

The solvent and sanding the rubber mounting rings seamed to work. We just got back from a 5 day trip and towed through some hard rain and not a drop of water in the galley. I guess the rubber parts had some release agent on them from manufacture and I never degreased them before I applied the sealent. My BAD!
